CANCER-WAR THAT HER SOUL LIVED

I recall she mentioning it to me, "I am a graduate in journalism and studied post-graduation in film-making that I couldn't complete due to cancer. It was a passion and not a career that I was pursuing. When I used to shoot, I was the happiest."

Being diagnosed with Ovarian cancer at the age of 22, it can become an ordeal of disheartenment for any youth. She was a charmer who could bring smiles to many faces. Yes, Geetika Gupta or fondly called as "Geet" by closed ones is no more. Six months ago we lost a gigantic part of us.

Geet fought like a warrior through the war of - difficult emotions, physical constraints, fear of losing herself to death, continuous sessions of chemotherapy, leaving behind all the people she deeply inspired by her courage to accept and survive the life, hopes and optimism that she will win over cancer one day. In winters, her last whatsapp update was "The cold is killing me and I am having sleepless nights." After three days, I got a news that she already fought her last breath. It was difficult to believe but I knew that the journey through cancer had been more difficult for her.

Swinging between the thoughts of fate and being called a winner one day, she kept on living her life by her soul. We do miss her beyond words today. With tears in my eyes as I wrote all the way here, cancer was the war that her soul lived with courage for two years, before her body gave up.
